  • Non-believers or atheists often deny the supremacy of Jesus. This is not surprising to anyone.
    Many of the Jews and people of Jesus’ time did not believe in him, either. The Jews expected a powerful general.
    We as a culture also look up to strength, power and influence. Jesus appeared as a poor and lowly servant, which is not what the world now or then looks up to.
    To most of us, being a lowly servant seems “foolish” compared to today’s culture.

    The wedding will take place on Oct. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at First Christian Church in Lawrenceburg with a reception to follow at Eagle Lake Convention Center.

  • Derrick Thomas Casey and Sarah Elizabeth Goins are proud to announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    Goins is the daughter of Stephanye Goins of Bayfield, Wis.
    She is the granddaughter of the late Lanny Goins and of Susan Goins of Frankfort, and the late Donald Orfield and of Betty Orfield of Georgetown, Ky. The bride is a 2002 graduate of Western Hills High School and is a veteran of United States Army National Guard.
    Casey is the son of Valorie Casey and Earl Casey of Lawrenceburg and the grandson of Harold and Jean Casey of Lawrenceburg.

    The bride is a 1996 Anderson County High School graduate and attended Eastern Kentucky University. She graduated from business college with a degree in office administration.

    The Anderson Future Farmers of America chapter received the National Superior Chapter Award for the year 1962.
    The National Chapter Awards Program is designed to give recognition to local FFA chapters in accomplishing outstanding programs of activities and in providing valuable educational experiences for the entire membership.
    The awards are based upon the degree of achievement of local chapters in meeting approved standards and in carrying out an outstanding program of work.

    If you would like to donate to Bountiful Blessings, please call New Hope, which will be delivering a hot Thanksgiving Meal to anyone requesting them in Woodford and Anderson Counties. The meal and delivery is free.  
    The youth will be having D-Now on Oct. 19-20 at 6 p.m. and the event ends at 1 p.m. Bring $10.
    Trunk or Treat will be held on Oct. 31. There will be candy, prizes and games.  No scary costumes please.
