  • Matthew and Megan Spaulding of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter Mattie Irene Spaulding, born Sept. 9, 2013 at 3:33 p.m. at Central Baptist Hospital.
    Mattie weighed 8.8 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long.
    Big brother Malachi, 3, welcomed Mattie home.
    Maternal grandparents are Bill and Marna Bollinger of Lawrenceburg. Maternal great-grandparents are Roy and Mildred Hicks.
    Paternal grandparents are Mitch and Kathy Spaulding of Stanford. Paternal great-grandparent is Dora Spaulding.

    Compassionate Friends announce upcoming meetings
    The Compassionate Friends will host meetings for bereavement parents who have lost children of any age.
    Meetings are held on the first Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the third Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the hospice building, 643 Teton Trail in Frankfort.

    Thursday, Jan. 9, 1964
    A registered three-day-old Guernsey calf reported missing on the Garrett Johnson farm Tuesday on the Anderson-Franklin County line was found Tuesday night.
    David Gaines, 17, son of Lloyd Gaines, a tenant on the farm, missed his calf when he got home from school Tuesday and notified local authorities, however, when Deputy J.W. Carlton went to the home to investigate, he found the calf had been found a short distance from the barn.

  • Westside Community church announces upcoming events
    Past events
    On Dec. 8 Westside held a Christmas dinner in the Fellowship Hall for the church family.
    On Dec. 11 Westside put fruit baskets together for several centers and for some elderly church family.
    On Dec. 14 fruit baskets were delivered to all centers and to the elderly church family.

  • Michael Davis did one of the hardest things any human being can do; he extended forgiveness to another person. Not some little peccadillo, mind you. He forgave the man who murdered his daughter. On Dec. 13, 2013, 17-year-old Claire Davis was shot and killed in the hallway of Arapahoe High School by 18-year-old Karl Pierson, who turned his gun on himself as authorities closed in on him.

  • Christopher and Brittany Callan of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Abby Gayle Callan, born Oct. 21, 2013, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
    She weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Roger and Judy Carlton of Lawrenceburg. Maternal great-grandparents are Marvin and Mary Ann Carlton and the late Howard and Virginia Smith.
