  • Paul and Peggy Drury of Lawrenceburg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at Timmy and Debbie Drury’s house on 1040 Searcy School Road from 1-4 p.m. on Nov. 5.
    They were married Nov. 10, 1961. Their children are Timmy (Debbie) Drury, Jeff (Nicole) Drury, and Paula (Chris) Hayes. Their grandchildren are Miranda, TJ and Emily Drury; Matt, Granville and Ally Hayes; and Christa Hayes Naylor. They have one great grandchild Hayden Naylor.
    All friends and relatives are invited. The couple requests no gifts.

  • The family of Ella Belle Baxter will host a reception to celebrate her 100th birthday on Oct. 30. The reception will take place at First Baptist Church in the fireside room from 2-4 p.m.  All are welcome.
     

  • Keith and Terri Royalty of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Nickie Royalty of Lawrenceburg to Kenny Monroe III, son of Zella and the late Kenny Monroe of Lawrenceburg.
    Grandparents of the bride are Bill and Doris Sanford of Harrodsburg and Joyce and the late Bruce Royalty of Lawrenceburg. Grandparents of the groom are Minnie and Vascom Lewis of West Liberty and Harold and Ruby Monroe of Lawrenceburg, all deceased.

  • Jill and Jody Roberts and Kevin and Christina Franklin of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Franklin of Lawrenceburg, to David Andrew Brandenburg of Lawrenceburg, son of Tammy and Dallas Brandenburg of Burgin.
    Grandparents of the bride are Linda Franklin and the late Hollis Franklin. Grandparents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brandenburg and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sewell.

  • Ashley Benningfield and Lee Logue of Harrodsburg announce the birth of their son, Leelan Riley Logue, born Sept. 16, 2011 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
    He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long.
    He was welcomed home by big sister Kaydance Michele Logue, 3.
    His maternal grandparents are Johnny and Kelia Benningfield and the late Linda Benningfield of Lawrenceburg.
    His paternal grandparents are Brian and Stacy Logue of Harrodsburg.
     

  • Jonathan and Tina Beasley of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their son, Ace Kristopher Beasley, born Sept. 3, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
    He weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce and was 21 1/2 inches long.
    Big brother Jameson, 9, welcomed Ace home.
    Maternal grandparent is Brenda Blanton of Berea.
    Paternal grandparents are Junior and Donna Beasley of Lawrenceburg.

     

  • 50 YEARS AGO
    Oct. 16, 1961
    Hamilton Tingle of Alton Station brought some blooms from a lilac tree in his yard to The Anderson News.
    He said this was the second time in the past six years that he had lived there that the tree had bloomed in the spring and fall.

    George Fallis Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fallis, underwent a shoulder operation at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington for an old baseball injury.

  • Sand Spring Baptist holds gospel concert Oct. 23
    Sand Spring Baptist Church, 1616 Harrodsburg Road, will host a gospel concert on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.
    His Heart, a male quartet from Mt. Vernon, will be performing. A free will and love offering will be taken. Scott Williams, a member and regular attendee of SSBC, sings bass with His Heart.
