  • In June, seven members of the Anderson County 4-H Horse Club traveled to the Kentucky State 4-H Horse Contest in Lexington to compete against other counties for top honors in Horse Bowl, Hippology, Speech, Photography and Crafts.
    Junior team members were Katie Shouse, Emily Adams, Allison Adams and Madison Hagan. Senior team members were Emily Drury, Hannah White and Alison Guzicki. The junior team placed 5th overall in Hippology and placed in the top 10 in Horse Bowl. The senior team placed second overall in Hippology and fourth overall in Horse Bowl.

  • Brittany Gayle Carlton and Christopher Paul Callan of Lawrenceburg were married on April 9, 2011, at St. Lawrenceburg Catholic Church. Father Chris Clay officiated.
    Parents of the couple are Roger and Judy Carlton of Lawrenceburg and Paul and Ellenore Callan of Lawrenceburg. Grandparents of the couple are Marvin and Mary Ann Carlton of Lawrenceburg, the late Howard and Virginia Smith of Hustonville, Paul Callan, Sr., and the late Ann Callan of Silver Springs, Md., and the late Sebastian and Erna Herbert of Fredricksburg, Ind.

    Adelia “Deede” Huddleston, 3, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Huddleston had a new baby brother and her aunt, Mrs. Sherman Sims, took her to the hospital nursery to see him.

  • Shiloh Christian Church will hold its annual revival Aug. 14-17 at 7 p.m. each evening.  
    Sunday night’s speaker is Jacob Cox, and he will also bring special music.
    Monday evening, Harrison Evans will speak.
    Tuesday evening, Revel “Rusty” Lewis will bring the message, and Wednesday night, Jonathan Essex will close out the revival.  
    Guests are welcome to stay for refreshments following Wednesday evening’s services.  

  • Sandy and Garry Gaines and the late Steve Branton of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Beth Branton of Lawrenceburg, to Matthew Robert Brogan of Lawrenceburg, son of Mark Brogan and Wendy Brogan of New Richmond, Ohio.
    The bride-to-be’s grandparents are William Rucker and the late Lucille Rucker, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Roberts and the late Finley Branton.
    The groom’s grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Michael Brogan, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ireton and the late Bud and Christine Mineer.

  • 50 YEARS AGO
    August 10, 1961
    Bobby Satterly, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Satterly, suffered an injury to his right eye when he was struck by a ball while trying out Thursday morning in Versailles at the Pittsburg Pirates camp.
    He hit a home run the first time at bat and the second time up he was struck. Eight stitches were required to close the deep cut above the eye. He was admitted to Versailles Hospital and then taken to a specialist in Lexington.
