  • Kevin Michael Burke, son of Michael and Joan Burke of Lawrenceburg, and Sarah Baker Stewart, daughter of Mark and Ginger Johnson of Lexington, and Bill and Ginger Stewart of Berea, were married Aug. 5, 2011. The ceremony and reception took place at the Bell House in Lexington.
    Kevin Burke is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, and is employed at Longley Marketing. Sarah Burke is a graduate of Spencerian College and is employed at Bluegrass Contracting Corporation.
    The bride and groom spent their honeymoon in Naples, Fla. The couple will reside in Lexington.

  • Henry and Opha Sebastian of Lawrenceburg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 24.
    Their children are Tim (Lisa) Sebastian, and Shirley (J.R.) Huff.
    Their grandchildren are Matthew (Sandra) Sebastian, Aaron (Ashley) Sebastian, Heather Sebastian, Logan Sebastian and Taylor Huff. Their great-grandson is Judah Sebastian.
    The couple will spend their anniversary with their children and grandchildren.

    On Sept. 18 guests will be the Sammy Glass family from Decatur, Tenn., at 6 p.m.

  • Religion is a funny thing. It often confuses me how some different religions interpret the Bible so differently than I do.
    I have been wrestling toe to toe with a very close friend of a different faith (I am Baptist) over one such difference. My friend’s church contends that Jesus is an angel, subservient to God, and less than God.

    The bride-to-be is a 2006 Anderson County High School graduate, a 2011 Eastern Kentucky University graduate, and is employed as an online manager at the campus bookstore in Richmond.
    The groom is a 2006 Anderson County High School graduate, a 2010 Eastern Kentucky University graduate, and is currently employed as a teacher at Westridge Elementary in Frankfort.

  • Juanita (Thompson) Gritton and O. H. “June” Gritton Jr. of Lawrenceburg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at the Claylick United Methodist Church, 235 Claylick Church Road, on Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. in Salvisa.
    Parents of the couple are the late Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Thompson of Lawrenceburg and the late Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Gritton of Lawrenceburg.
