A candlelight investiture service for 11 girl scouts was conducted.
The scouts had completed their tenderfoot requirements.
Serving as the color guard was Connie Hughes, American flag bearer; Charlotte Sullivan, troop flag bearer; Nancy Ellen White, song leader; and Dana Satterly, color sergeant.
The investees were Beverly Brown, LaKeta Cammack, Debbie Duncan, Nancy Haydon, Bonnie Hughes, Connie Huge, Jeannie Kirby, Jane Mitchell, Dana Satterly, Charlotte Sullivan and Nancy Ellen White.

A building permit was issued to Herbert Hahn for construction of an additional room to the dwelling on South Main Street. The estimated cost of the construction was $2,300.

Regina Cunningham reported that the Anderson High 4-H teenage club elected officers.
They were: George Fallis, president; Jeanne A. Chilton, vice president; Rosie Tindall, secretary; Regina Cunningham, reporter; Linda Chilton, song leader; Patty Toll and David Crawford, recreation leaders.

Jimmy Phillips, 8, son of Mr. aThe Junior Eagle Club of Western met for the first time this year, according to reporter Edwinna Cook.
Officers elected were: Jane McGuire, president; Loretta Hupp, vice president; Shirley Wilson, secretary; Edwinna Cook, reporter; Mary Lou Corley and Ira Lee Blakeman, song leaders; Earl Puckett Jr. and Elizabeth Satterly, recreation.

The first water show held at the pool drew a crowd of more than 500 and more than $250 was cleared for the installation of tennis courts, according to pool manager, Charles Grote, who was in charge of the show.
Mrs. C.T. Ward, superintendent of schools, did the make-up for the performers. Hugh Brooks was the announcer and Allen Carter and Jimmy Hawkins handled the lighting effects for the show.
