Anderson County pitcher Timmy Rogers delivers during Monday’s win over Spencer County in the 30th District Tournament. Rogers limited Spencer to three hits and struck out seven in just over 5 innings of work.

Anderson County never had any doubt that Timmy Rogers was the man for the biggest job of the 2017 baseball season. The junior right-hander gave up only three hits before leaving the pitching mound in the sixth inning of a 9-4 romp past Spencer County in the 30th District Tournament Monday at Barnes Memorial Field.

“They told me about two weeks ago,” Rogers said of when he learned he would be getting the call in the district opener, the early elimination game in the post-season.
