    The Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club is scheduled to meet Thursday, Nov. 20.

    At 6:30 p.m. there will be a book discussion of “To the Nines.”

    At 7:30 p.m. there will be a guest speaker, Gail Covington of 9th Life Cat Pack Inc., followed by a business meeting.

  • Historical Society to present ‘Who Shot Gov. Goebel?’

    On Thursday, Nov. 20 a program called “Caleb Powers: Who Shot Governor Goebel?” with Mr. Powers being portrayed by Duane Murner, will bring a mystery from the past to Anderson County, according a news release. The intriguing, historical event tells of a political murder that has never been solved to this day.

  • Apply now for Shop With a Cop assistance

    Families of children in need are encouraged to apply for Christmas assistance through Sheriff Troy Young’s Shop With a Cop program, the sheriff announced.

    Applications are available at the sheriff’s office on Main Street along with the sheriff’s website at www.andersoncountysheriff.com. Applications can also be found at any of the county’s schools.

    The deadline to have applications turned it is Wednesday, Nov. 26.

  • Two Lawrenceburg troopers receive promotions

    Kentucky State Troopers Douglas L. Carter and Franklin K. Flowers were among 37 troopers recognized Monday during a ceremony held at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort.

    Flowers was promoted from senior trooper to sergeant, Post 6, Dry Ridge.

    He is a 12-year veteran of the agency.

    Carter was promoted from senior trooper to sergeant, aircraft branch.

    He is a seven year veteran of the agency.

  • Lawrenceburg Junior Cotillion members attend Fall Fling

    Several Lawrenceburg Junior Cotillion members and their guests attended the program’s Fall Fling, held Nov. 2 at the American Legion Hall, according to a news release.

    More than 40 young men and women enjoyed a casual, autumn-themed party, complete with fall festival games, prizes, a meal and dancing, organizers said.

    Those attending were reminded of the importance of giving. Each was asked to bring canned or boxed food items that have since then been donated to the local food pantry.
