  • Frankfort Regional Hospital names wound care center after surgeon

    The Wound Care Center & Hyperbaric Medicine at Frankfort Regional Medical Center recently recognized Dr. Willis P. McKee Jr., retired general surgeon, for his dedication and commitment to the hospital, community and Wound Care Center by renaming it to the “Dr. Willis P. McKee, Jr. Wound Care Center & Hyperbaric Medicine.”

    “We are proud to honor Dr. McKee by renaming the Wound Care Center after him,” said Chip Peal, chief executive officer, in a news release.

  • County clerk’s office announces holiday hours

    The Anderson County Clerk’s Office will close at noon on Christmas Eve, according to a news release.

    The office will also be closed on Christmas Day and Friday, Dec. 26. All state computers will be down.

    The office will also be closed 1 p.m. New Years Eve, New Year’s Day and Friday, Jan. 2. All state computers will be down at that time as well.

  • Circuit clerk’s office announces holiday hours

    The Anderson Circuit Clerk and drivers licensing offices has announced its holiday hours, according to a news release.

    The offices will close at noon Dec. 24 and be closed Dec. 25 and 26. Only the written portion of the drivers license test will be given Dec. 24. No road tests will be given that day.

    The offices will be open during normal hours Dec. 31, but closed Jan. 1 and 2, 2015. Road and written driver tests will be given Dec. 31.

    Representative-elect James Allen Tipton, R-Taylorsville (53rd District) spent his first week in Frankfort as part of a three-day orientation for incoming legislators, according to a news release.

    The legislative training is in preparation for his first session in January, and work in future legislative and interim sessions.

    For the first time, The Leapfrog Group has named Frankfort Regional Medical Center to its annual list of Top Hospitals, according to a news release.

    This is an elite distinction awarded to hospitals nationwide for demonstrating excellence in hospital safety and quality through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, according to a news release. The award is given to less than 7 percent of all eligible hospitals. The awards, which are given annually, were announced at Leapfrog’s annual meeting and Top Hospital Awards on Dec. 2, in Washington, D.C.

  • Chiropractor’s office delivers food to Open Hands

    There will be fewer people going hungry in the weeks to come thanks to a food drive conducted at Lawrenceburg Family Chiropractic.

    Chiropractor Brian Schulz offered a discount rate for patients who showed up with 10 food items, and the response, he said, was tremendous.

    “It was way more than I thought we were going to get,” said Schulz. “I was hoping for half of what we got. We filled the entire back of a van, plus my trunk and back seat.”

    Members of an ad-hoc committee for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) said in a news release that they are thankful for several recent fundraisers to provide funds for the organization that helps advocate abused or neglected children in court.

    Recent events include the organization having a booth at the Burgoo Festival, a horse show sponsored by the Alton Saddle Club and a chili luncheon, according to a news release.
