  • Riley is French award winner at Xavier U.

    Arianne P. Riley, of Anderson County, senior French student at Xavier  
    University, Cincinnati, Ohio, received the Joseph and Jeanne Bourgeois French Award for excellence achieved in the study of French, on April 5 at the Cintas Center on campus.  Arianne will be a graduating French major in May, 2014 and is the daughter of Donna and Steve Wecker of Lawrenceburg, Ky. and Earl and Linda Riley of Frankfort, Ky.

  • Conrad completes Navy basic training

    Navy Seaman Recruit Cody M. Conrad, a 2013 graduate of Anderson County High School, Lawrenceburg, Ky.,recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, Conrad, son of Michael L. and Cynthia J. Conrad of Lawrenceburg, Ky.,
    completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

    Free Clothes Day April 7

    Salvisa Christian Church will sponsor Free Clothes Day for Anderson and Mercer County residents only, Mon., April 7, from 1:30-4 p.m. Bring proof of residency, such as a photo ID.

  • Stratton family welcomes son

    Jedidiah and Aaren Stratton of Kennedale, Texas, announce the birth of a son, Brantley Easton Stratton, born Feb. 4, 2014, in Mansfield Texas. He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Andrew and Laura Gigrel and Donna and John Nowlin, all of San Antonio, Texas.

    Paternal grandparents are Millie and Troy Clark Stratton of Bullard, Texas.

    He is the great-grandson of Faye Stratton of Harrodsburg and the late Sam Stratton Jr., and the great-great-grandson of the late Rosie and Sam Stratton Sr., formerly of Ballard.

    Catlett is Impact Award winner

    Deborah Catlett has been selected as the Impact Award winner for Anderson County by The Bluegrass Alliance for Women.

    Judges review nominations for the annual award that recognizes women who are helping women and girls improve their lives in areas of economic sufficiency, education, equity, health and well-being, and leadership.

  • 'Dancing Around the World' theme of Final Cotillion

    Members of the 2014 Lawrenceburg Junior Cotillion recently held their Final Cotillion and Parent Event in the ballroom of the Eagle Lake Convention Center. The theme was “Dancing Around the World,”under the instruction of the Lexington Arthur Murray Ballroom Dance Studio.

    Members demonstrated dance techniques with various origins such as a Latin aalsa, Venetian waltz and a country-western two-step. The local Junior Cotillion is a program offered to boys and girls in sixth through eighth grade, focusing on life skills through social experiences.
