Beating back brush on county highways might cost less if a trial run at spraying problem areas proves effective.
The Anderson County Fiscal Court voted unanimously last Tuesday night to hire a company to spray trees along 50 miles of county roads in an effort to reduce costs.
Magistrates approved spending $5,000 with a company called Natur Chem to reduce the amount of labor required to keep branches from hanging over county roads.

The Wheels of Time car club of Lawrenceburg will host two more free cruise nights on Sept. 14 and Oct. 12., and invites the community.
According to a release from the organization, “the Wheels of Time Car Club of Lawrenceburg was organized in 1993, and has grown to 80 families. One of our members is currently on active duty serving in Afghanistan as base commander of a multi-force base. Our club not only promotes vehicle from the past, but we are bringing visitors to downtown Lawrenceburg in an effort to revitalize the downtown area.

Anderson County Clerk Jason Denny received two grants totaling $23,177 from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) to preserve and manage local government records, according to a news release.
KDLA is an agency of the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
Twenty-six grants have been awarded for a total of $345,756 from fiscal year 2013 Local Records Grant Program funds. During the program’s 27-year history, a total of more than $19 million has been distributed across Kentucky and included grants to all 120 counties.
