  • Promo business learned to deal with success

    Lawrenceburg-based Splatter, Inc. started small, grew fast and learned the importance of being ready for success.

    Splatter Inc was started in the summer of 2004 by Gabe Uebel, Andrew Eaton, Nick Cann, Warren Kinne, Jay Springate, David Sawyer and Charles Humston.

    Andrew, Nick, Warn, Jay and David had just graduated from Anderson County High School and were poised to enter their respective colleges that fall.

    Splatter, Inc. began very modestly by creating, marketing and selling “Support the Troops” magnetic ribbons.

    Jobs Academy offers to

    prepare individuals for

    the local workforce

    The Anderson County Adult Learning Center, in cooperation with  Anderson County Community Education, is launching the Anderson County Jobs  Academy.

    The Anderson County Jobs Academy is a one week course designed to  prepare local residents for entry into the local workforce. Participants will learn job skills such as interviewing techniques, preparing a resume, teamwork and team building, basic math.

    •Taking Control of Your Diabetes – a six session class that begins on Tuesday, Aug. 26.  This class is recommended for anyone with Type 2 Diabetes.  If you have been recently diagnosed with diabetes or have been living with diabetes for a long time, this class will help you live healthier and manage diabetes for life.  Classes meet on Tuesdays – Aug. 26, Sept. 30, Oct. 14 and 21, Nov. 4 and 11. This class is a free event.

  • Westside Community Church holds VBS

    From staff reports

    Westside Community Church, located at 1311 Versailles Road, kicked off its annual vacation Bible school on July 18.  The kids said allegiance to the American flag, Christian flag and the Holy Bible.

    After two deacons of the church did a skit about Moses and the Ten Commandments, the kids went to their classrooms. They attended Bible study class, crafts class, class about respect and learned the “Ten Commandment Boogie” in music class.

  • Trent to perform in state fair talent show semi-finals Saturday

    Kenzie Trent of Lawrenceburg has qualified to compete in the 2014 Coca-Cola Talent Classic Semi-Finals Competition at the Kentucky State Fair.

    Trent, a sophomore at Anderson County High School, will be competing with a guitar and singing solo at the 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16 in the South Wing Conference Center.
