  • Woodford Theatre to hold auditions

    The Woodford Theatre will host auditions for young artists from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. June 30.

    Those wishing to audition must have 16 bars of a musical theatre selection ready and be prepared to dance.

    For those unable to attend auditions, a video submission will be accepted.

    Former governor and current state Senator Julian Carroll made an unexpected stop at the Anderson County Senior Citizens Center last Wednesday for the potluck lunch.   • Friends of the Library to host book sale Saturday

    Friends of the Anderson Public Library will host their second book sale Saturday.

    The sale, which will take place on the back lawn of the Anderson Public Library, will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    The sale will feature a large selection of new books, as well as used books of all kinds.

    “We invite children taking part in the library’s summer reading program to come in for a free book,” Friends’ member Donna Herrick said. “Also, anyone who brings in this article from The Anderson News, will receive a free book.”

  • Speedsters tour Lawrenceburg

    No top. No fenders. No problem.

    Model T Speedster enthusiasts made Lawrenceburg home for four days last week during the Horses, Bourbon and Back Roads Tour.

    A speedster is built from a Model T Ford (1908-31) and is powered by a four-cylinder Ford engine. The cars are topless and often have the fenders removed.

    Twenty-nine speedsters and 62 folks made the trip to Lawrenceburg for the 13th annual tour. Each year, the tour takes place in a different setting. Organizers choose Lawrenceburg this year for the country roads and local attractions.

  • Rabies clinic June 11

    The 2016 rabies clinic is planned from 1 to 3 p.m. June 11 at the Anderson County Community Park.

    The shots are $5 per pet.

    If your pet received a rabies shot in 2015, it was a three-year shot and the pet will not need to receive another dose of the rabies shot until 2018.

    Other shots will also be available.

    No appointment is required.

    Please be sure to have dogs on a leash and cats in carriers.

    The Anderson County Community Park is located at 1026 County Road in Lawrenceburg.
