    Annual Community
    Service Day is Friday
    Community Service Day is scheduled this year for Friday, according to a news release.
    Now in it third year, the day is designed to encourage residents to perform community service at a variety of locations across Anderson County.
    The day was designated here by Mayor Sandy Goodlett, and has been designated by mayors of other communities nationwide.

    Spring Fling Art
    Show planned
    The Spring Fling Art Show is planned for Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Lawrenceburg.
    The art show benefits the Anderson County Art Council.
    An artist reception is scheduled for Friday, April 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Frame Clinic and Art Alley, 100 W. Court St.

    A clothing repair class is being offered at the Anderson County Extension office at 3 p.m. April 27.

  • Popular band returns Sunday to Fox Creek Christian Church

    Zack Shelton says he loved his first appearance last year in Lawrenceburg and can’t wait for his next one April 17 at Fox Creek Christian Church.
    “We’ve very excited to be coming back,” said Shelton of his band, Zack Shelton & 64 to Grayson. “We had a great time there last year.”
    Shelton and his band have gained a national following and have played with such luminaries as Josh Turner, The Gaithers and even Charlie Daniels.

    CASA to conduct annual Boot Drive
    Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will conduct its annual Boot Drive on Saturday, April 9, the organization announced.
    Volunteers are scheduled to be at Ace Hardware, Kroger, Tractor Supply and Walmart, accepting donations, which can also be mailed to CASA of the Bluegrass, Box 193, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
    The drive is being conducted in concert with Child Abuse Month.

  • Felon offered probation after pleading to handgun charge

    A convicted felon who pleaded guilty to being in possession of a handgun is expected to be placed on probation when he is sentenced April 5 in Anderson Circuit Court.
    Jeffery Brewer, 50, who lived at 1300 Drydock Road at the time of his arrest, was indicted on a Class C felony for being a felon in possession of a firearm and wanton endangerment after he allegedly pointed a loaded .45 caliber handgun at his wife on Christmas Eve of 2014.
