The annual 127 Yard Sale, which stretches 675 miles from Hudson, Mich., to Gadsen, Ala., will draw thousands of visitors to Anderson County starting Aug. 4-7.
Described in a news release as the world’s longest yard sale, the 127 corridor yard sale began as a means of getting drivers off the interstate and on the roadways of rural and America. The event, celebrating its 24th anniversary this year, is always held the first Thursday in August through the first Sunday, Aug. 4-7.

In June the Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club presented scholarships to four Anderson High School graduates.
Angel Hudson and Micah Searcy will be attending Eastern Kentucky University. Angel will major in criminal justice and minor in psychology. She will be working with a Federal Work Study Program at EKU, according to a news release.
Micah Searcy, who plays the trumpet, guitar and piano, is majoring in music industry.
Brittany Couch will attend Morehead State University. She has been accepted for a leadership program beginning in the fall.

Agriculture and our rural communities face tremendous challenges in today’s political, social and economic environment. Thus, it is critical that this industry develop leaders to address these challenges and create opportunities for future generations.

The Spencer County Fair will be held July 15 starting at 7 p.m. at the Spencer County Fairgrounds in Taylorsville.
Admission is $10, with children six and under free.
A horse pull and cornhole will be held July 15, with horse pull, antique tractor pull and more held July 16. No rides will be offered that weekend.
