Retirement for Ernie Hunt meant a return to doing what he loved — making handmade children’s toys.
“I reckon I got old and fat, but never grew up,” Hunt, who retired from General Cable after 37 years, said with a smile. “I’m just an overgrown kid having fun.”
It started back in 1976, when Hunt made a wooden train set for his son’s first birthday. Friends saw his work, and said he should start selling his pieces.
