  • Steven Sims Makes Dean's List at Centre College

    Steven Sims, of Lawrenceburg, has been named to the dean's list for the fall term at Centre College, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.60 grade point average.
    Sims is the son of Regina and Steve Sims, of Lawrenceburg, and is a graduate of Anderson County High School.
    Centre College, founded in 1819, is a nationally ranked liberal arts college in Danville, Ky. Centre hosted its second Vice Presidential Debate on 10.11.12, and remains the smallest college in the smallest town ever to host a general election debate.

  • It’s almost time to start planting

    OK, who pushed the fast forward button on the calendar? Is anyone else amazed that tomorrow is May 1st?  I can’t complain, May is one of my favorite months because it marks the start of my engines! I love my Cub Cadet Lawn Tractor, my Echo Weed Eater and my Stihl Chain Saw.

  • Wampler recognized at Wittenberg University for induction in National Honor Society

    Amanda Wampler, along with 171 classmates, was recognized at the 2014 Wittenberg University Honors Convocation for induction into a national honor society, Friday, April 11, in Weaver Chapel.

    Amanda Wampler of Lawrenceburg, KY, was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honor society that seeks to recognize and to encourage scholarship among first-year college women. Selection is based entirely on achieving a 3.5 cumulative grade point average for fall semester of the first year.

  • New attorney opens law office

    Rick Sanborn recently opened Sanborn Law Office located at 135 South Main Street Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.

  • Opal Phillips is recognized by state legislature

    In February, State Rep. Kin King, R-Harrodsburg, presented volunteer Opal Phillips of Lawrenceburg with a citation on the House floor. A resolution was presented to honor Phillips by Sen. Julian Carroll, D-Frankfort, on the Senate floor.

    Phillips was the recipient of the 2013 NHPCO Volunteers Are the Foundation of Hospice Award in the category of organizational support.

    The paint department at Ace Hardware of Lawrenceburg is undergoing a complete transformation. Ace will be officially introducing the paint studio on Wednesday, May 14 through Tuesday, May 20.

    The paint studio is a newly designed boutique-style shopping experience that offers an expanded, premium line of products in an inspiring array of colors.

  • Riley is French award winner at Xavier U.

    Arianne P. Riley, of Anderson County, senior French student at Xavier  
    University, Cincinnati, Ohio, received the Joseph and Jeanne Bourgeois French Award for excellence achieved in the study of French, on April 5 at the Cintas Center on campus.  Arianne will be a graduating French major in May, 2014 and is the daughter of Donna and Steve Wecker of Lawrenceburg, Ky. and Earl and Linda Riley of Frankfort, Ky.
