  • Shear Talent opens at Eagle Lake
  • Dancers selected to attend convention in New York

    The Kelley Puckett Dance Academy Dance Team was recently selected to attend the 2012 All Star Dancers National Dance Convention in New York City, according to a news release.
    The team was chosen from hundreds of groups to attend when they performed a group jazz routine at the Applause Talent Dance Competition in Louisville.
    The five-day convention will include a dance workshop and mock audition taught by the world famous Radio City Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.

  • Hospital announces humanitarian award winners

    Frank Manns, Jaime Montalvo, MD, and Priscilla Gershman were recently awarded Frankfort Regional Medical Center’s 2011 Frist Humanitarian Award as employee, physician, and volunteer of the year, respectively.
    The honor places Manns, Montalvo and Gershman in nomination for the nationwide Frist Humanitarian Award, the highest honor an employee or volunteer can receive within Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), the parent company of Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

  • Woodford Woman’s Club plans annual garden tour

    The Woodford County Woman’s Club Garden Department will host its third annual Garden Tour on Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    The tour will showcase eight private gardens that incorporate formal and casual styles, expansive and compact gardens, and both town and country settings. Included on the tour is a mix of professionally and owner designed gardens, organizers said.
    A portion of the proceeds will support the Coats and Shoes for Kids Project for Woodford County Children.

  • Volunteers, donations sought for Repair Affair

    Local real estate agents will perform their second Repair Affair on May 11 and 12 and are seeking volunteers and donations.
    Repair Affair designed to make repairs and updates to homes owned by senior citizens with funds provided by the Realtor Community Housing Foundation, which has made $3,600 available for this event.
    Those interested are asked to meet each day at 7:30 at the Century 21 office, located next to 4 Way Stop and Go at the intersection of Old Frankfort Road and US 127. Lunch and drinks will be provided.

  • Mackville truck, tractor pull reschedules

    Due to rain, the Mackville Truck and Tractor Pull has been rescheduled for April 28.
    Weigh in starts at 4 p.m., the pull begins at 5 p.m. Concessions will be available.

  • Woman’s Club hosts luncheon, style show

    Hats Off!, the Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club (LPWC) annual luncheon and style show, was held at the Family Living Center of St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Saturday, April 21.
    As approximately 135 guests enjoyed the chicken-salad luncheon, Martha Caywood of the Derby Shoppe and Raggs in Danville emceed the style show, with club members and friends as models. Several ensembles from her shop, complete with hats, handbags and jewelry, were shown and described.
