  • Toy and coat drive for Open Hands Pantry

    Cash Express has teamed up with The Open Hands Pantry this holiday season to collect new and used coats, toys and non-perishable canned foods for the Anderson County community.
    New and used coats to Allison’s Cleaners for them to be dry cleaned before delivery.
    Drop-offs can be made at these locations:

  • Rotary offers scholarship

    The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club announced that Peace Fellow scholarship applications are now being accepted.
    Fellows can earn a master’s degree in international relations, public administration, sustainable development, peace studies, conflict resolution or a related field, or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict resolution.
    The Peace Fellows are leaders in promoting national and international cooperation, peace and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives, in their careers and through service activities.

  • Grant helps GED grads move toward college

    A state grant will assist GED graduates transition into college, the Anderson County Adult Education Center announced.
    Over the next 12 months, students who earn GED diplomas can apply for financial aid through FAFSA, complete college applications and research their college and career preferences on-line at the center, utilizing a special software program.
    The program is designed to help graduates transition from the center to postsecondary programs in the state.

  • Adult Learning Center offers class

    The Anderson Adult Learning Center is offering a “Excel and Beyond and PowerPoint” course starting Nov. 8.
    The class, held Nov.8-17, will be taught by instructor Beth Feddersen and will be from 6-8 p.m. The fee is $59 for 8 hours of instruction and a certificate of completion.
    The Anderson Adult Learning Center is located at 219 East Woodford Street in Lawrenceburg.

  • Century Bank promotes breast cancer awareness

    October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Century Bank supported the cause to help promote cancer awareness, according to a news release.
    Bank employees sold awareness items and hosted a variety of fund raising events such as “Stomp Out Cancer” and “Pay to Wear Pink” Days.
    Century Bank also donated $5 for each new, personal checking account opened during the month to cancer research and offered those customers free, pink Breast Cancer Checks, according to the release.
