  • Annual wine festival set for Saturday at Lovers Leap

    The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club will host its annual Wine Fest on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Lovers Leap Vineyard and Winery, the club announced.
    Tickets are $10, and VIP tables are available. Event sponsorships range from $1,000 to $100.

    Proceeds will “go back into the community,” organizers said.
    The Conch Republic Band, billed by organizers as a “trop rock” band, will provide music.

    Lauren Wash, 7, was crowned Little Miss Heart of America while her 4-year-old sister Madison was crowned Tiny Miss Heart of America. Lauren also won Most Photogenic for her age division.

  • Pierian Women donate to Backpack Buddies program

    Members of the Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club presented a check for $734 to Charlene Sipila, treasurer of the Backpack Buddies program.
    The club raised the money at a silent auction held during its annual spring luncheon and style show held last April.
    The non-profit Backpack Buddies effort was initiated by the Lawrenceburg First Christian Church and is now supported communitywide by churches, organizations, businesses, scout troops and individuals.

    Shawn and Katie Hutton of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Harper Katherine Hutton, born June 17, 2011, at Central Baptist Hospital.
    She weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19 ¼ inches long.
    Her maternal grandparents are Kent and Deborah Stevens of Lawrenceburg. Her maternal great-grandparents are Helen Stevens and the late Melvin Stevens, and the late E.B. and Mildred Cornett, all of Lawrenceburg.
    Her paternal grandparents are Allen and Pam Hutton and Ron and Glenna Mitchell, all of Lawrenceburg.

  • Aerobics, Tae Bo classes begin Aug. 22

    Anderson Community Education will begin its Steppin’ Up aerobics and Tae Bo combination classes with Doris Thompson, certified instructor, starting Aug. 22.
    The classes are held at United Methodist Church on Carlton Drive. A combination of step aerobics and Tae Bo will run for six weeks on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6 – 7 p.m., and the cost is $29.
    Children ages 12 and over are welcome to join the class. Registration will take place on the first night of class.
