  • Christian Academy student wins conservation essay contest

    Colin Charles was named the Anderson County winner in the 2014 Soil Conservation Writing Contest.

    Charles is a seventh grader at the Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg. He and his family live in Versailles.

    The contest was produced as a partnership between Kentucky Farm Bureau and the Kentucky Association of Conservation districts.

    This year’s theme was “Protect Kentucky’s Soil.” The winners were announced at the Anderson County Conservation District’s annual banquet.

  • Andrade places first in geography bee

    Each year the Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg holds two in-house geography bees, according to a news release from the school.

    One features questions determined by “National Geographic” magazine, the other is scheduled by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). The winners of each of these in-house bees go on to participate in regional competitions. The regional ACSI competition was held on Friday, April 17.

  • Education briefs 4-15-2015

    Hewitt to graduate

    Jennifer Cloer Hewitt, daughter of late Ruth A. and Robert T. Cloer and sister of late Gerald C. Locker will graduate May 3 from Cincinnati State in Cincinnati.

    She has maintained a combined GPA of 3.78 and will be graduating with honors during a ceremony at Xavier

    University.

    School choirs to perform Thursday

    The All District Honors Choir is scheduled to perform Thursday, April 9 at 6 p.m.

    The concert will be held in the Bearcat Theater, located at Anderson County High School.

    The performance will feature students from Robert B. Turner, Emma B. Ward and Saffell Street elementary schools, along with students from the middle and high schools. They will be under the direction of Sue Lou Smith.

    The concert is free and open to the public.
