Enrollment in the county’s public school system continues to decline, leaving school officials looking for answers.
The district this year has 3,684 enrolled students, down 84 from the previous year and 183 from the district’s peak year in 2008-09.
That’s a decline of nearly 5 percent
Figuring out exactly why enrollment is declining in a county that US Census figures in 2010 predicted would continue to grow is a challenge, according to Derek Shouse, the district’s director of student services.
