With the title above did you think to yourself, “Hey, I don’t know what a ‘staycation’ is?” If you don’t, then I will tell you. Hi! My name is Caitlin Hobbs and I am a seventh grader at Anderson County Middle School. A staycation is a vacation in your hometown or state. This means you could go on vacation and not have to fly or drive far away. Have you ever looked for historical sites or museums to visit? Well I have, and you should too!

With the rising cost of plane tickets and gas, a lot of you haven’t been on vacation in a while. Your kids are probably asking you, “Why can’t we go on vacation,” and you say, “We don’t have enough money.” Well, money is pretty tight these days and people are on a strict financial budget.

We all know what a vacation is, but do we know what a staycation is? A staycation is somewhere you go in your city/town or nearby your home to save money.
A great staycation location is Anderson County’s Wall of Veterans. This honors all the military veterans of Anderson County who have served for the United States military, all branches. You should choose this location for a staycation to proudly salute and thank all those, past and present, who have fought for our freedom. Your visit will be a salute to the veterans’ bravery.
