Seventh grader Hannah Drury, after three years of competing in Anderson’s district spelling bee, won the Kentucky Farm Bureau district spell-off on Jan. 19.
Drury, who is a student at Anderson Middle School, said she’s been competing in the spelling bee since the fourth grade.
The closest she’s gotten to winning the district bee was in fifth grade, she said, when she finished in fourth place.
“I can’t believe it,” Drury said of her first place win. “I’m still shaking.”
