Carson Tarter, daughter of John and Edwina Tarter, received a first, third and two fifth place ribbons at the District Four 4-H Horse Show on June 11-13. She will now compete at the state level in July. Carson rides with trainer Tanya Davis at Three Day Farm in Midway. Her main concentration is Eventing.
 

Every year the American Cancer Society awards educational scholarships to young individuals, each of them cancer survivors, who have earned good grades and strive to accomplish even more through higher education.
This year Anderson County resident Tyler Baker was selected to receive this honor. Tyler is the son of Tim and Angie Baker and has a brother, Tucker. Below, Angie Baker reflects on the effects of cancer on Tyler and their family and on the importance of Relay for Life:
