At Second Christian Church, there’s no need to look far to find history.
It’s in the colorful, traditional garb that congregation members wore to celebrate Black History Month during Sunday worship.
It’s in the words of the Rev. Ramon E. Smith’s sermon.
 “You are our history, dear God,” Smith prayed during the Sunday church service on Feb. 24. “But we’re thankful we’ve got a history.”

A public works committee voted last Friday to change some of the parking spots on Court Street between Main and College streets after a local business owner expressed concerns about parking availability.
According to city council member and public works committee member Bobby Durr, there will be one-hour parking signs on all Court Street parking spaces near the courthouse from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
There will also be a handicap spot designated on the corner of Main and Court Street on the courthouse side of the street, according to Durr.

The man suspected of leaping from the Tyrone Bridge last Monday is now considered a missing person after ongoing efforts to find his body proved unsuccessful.
The Versailles Police Department, the agency investigating the incident, is not yet releasing the suspected jumper’s name, despite notification of family members.
Lt. Daniel Clark of the Versailles Police Department said the man is now considered a missing person, and that his name has been registered in a missing person’s database accessible to police nationwide, but not the public.

The Lawrenceburg man charged with hunting under the influence and wanton endangerment allegedly fired a shot that struck retired state Fish and Wildlife officer Rex Burkhead while dove hunting last September, according to documents on file in Anderson District Court.
David Gaines, 44, of 1040 Lakeshore Drive is scheduled to stand trial on those charges March 11.
In a statement on file in the courthouse, Burkhead claims he and several others were hunting doves when Gaines “stood up, aimed his gun directly at us and fired twice.”
