    A Salt River Road woman who allegedly added the cost of gift cards to customers’ bills while checking them out at Walmart pleaded not guilty Oct. 3 in Anderson District Court.

    Madison Mangione, 19, of 1104 Salt River Road, Lawrenceburg is charged with theft by unlawful taking for an alleged scheme that saw her pocket more than a dozen gift cards customers didn’t know they were purchasing, according to an arrest report.

    Elisha Spears was charged with operating on a suspended or re-voked license, no insurance and careless driving by the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

    Robert Sawyer was charged with failure to appear by the Kentucky State Police.

  • Teen charged with swapping stolen gun for weed

    A teenager was charged with first-degree burglary after allegedly stealing a gun that he eventually for $80 worth of marijuana, according to police reports.

    Robert J. Butts, 19, of 995 Johnson Road was charged with the burglary Aug. 5 after police investigated the theft of two guns and a ring stolen from a Lakeview Drive residence in late July.

    Johnathan Chaney was charged with fourth-degree assault by the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

    July 15

    Kylee Hulick was charged with contempt and failure to appear or pay by the Shelby County Detention Center.

  • Man jailed for choking woman

    A Lawrenceburg man remains behind bars after allegedly choking a woman until the blood vessels in her eyes burst, according to a citation issued by the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

    Brock O’Neil Thompson, 22, of 424 Secretariat Drive, allegedly broke into the woman’s home and waited for her to return while hiding in a basement closet, according to an arrest warrant requested May 8 by officer Nathan Doty.

    Right now, everyone is equal. The football season opens across the state Friday night with everyone pointing the first weekend in December when the state champions will be determined at Western Kentucky University.

    OK, we will be realistic and acknowledge that even though everyone is 0-0 right now, some are more equal than others. Suffice it to say that the odds of Trinity or Bowling Green being happy in early December are much higher than just about every other team in the state.

    The following people were indicted July 19 by the Anderson County Grand Jury.

    Melissa Gilliam of 118 Bell St., Lawrenceburg was indicted for first-degree illegal possession of a controlled substance (heroin); operating under the influence; reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop sign.

    The indictments stem from an incident May 28.

    Jennifer Cox of 200 Adams Lane, Frankfort was indicted on two counts of third-degree burglary, stemming from an incident April 26 at 1000 Bypass North.
