  • DUI suspect runs into police officer

    A vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver last Thursday night on Center Street struck a Lawrenceburg police officer in the leg, according to police reports.

    Officer Trey Burrus apparently wasn’t injured and ended up arresting two people in the car on charges that include DUI and assaulting a police officer.

    Charged were Lawrenceburg residents Connie R. Perry, 58, of 2047 Fox Creek Road, and Charlotte Whetzel, 33, of 1640 Ballard Road.

    It was Whetzel’s third DUI charge, according to police reports.

  • Woman faces methamphetamine, heroin, booster seat charges

    A woman whose toddler was not in a booster seat was charged March 25 with first-degree possession of heroin and methamphetamine, according to court documents.

    Beverly Barton, 35, of 102 Fairview Drive, Lawrenceburg was pulled over by deputy Alan Robinson of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office due to her license plate not being illuminated, according to a criminal citation.

  • Man charged for ‘whipping’ daughter, punching wife

    A Lawrenceburg man who allegedly “whipped” his 7-year-old daughter and punched his wife in the face was charged March 21 with assault and child abuse, according to a criminal citation.

    Irvin L. King Jr., 46, of 101 Scott Court faces charges of fourth-degree child abuse and fourth-degree assault for the incident that erupted during a family squabble.

  • Heroin-fueled ‘hookup’ ends in bust

    Two people who were allegedly about to have sex in a parked vehicle ended up going to jail instead.

    Brian Neikirk, 42, and Linda Rogers, 38, both of 313 Secretariat Drive, Lawrenceburg were each charged with first-degree trafficking in heroin, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after police interrupted their tryst around 7:30 p.m. March 23 on Salt River Road.

  • Man jailed for trashing retired trooper’s yard

    An Anderson County man was arrested on a warrant last week for allegedly throwing household trash into the yard of a retired state trooper.

    Jackie Barnett, 66, of 1620 Aaron Barnett Road was charged with three counts of criminal littering following an investigation by the Kentucky State Police.

  • Trial set for man charged with attempted murder over weed trimmer spat

    The man charged with attempted murder following a dispute over a weed trimmer last summer is scheduled to stand trial next Thursday in Anderson Circuit Court.

    Hugh “Matt” Robinson, who was 78 at the time of his arrest, is charged with shooting Chuck Grace in the chest as Grace’s twin teenaged sons looked on.

    The two men were having what Grace said was a discussion about a weed trimmer Robinson promised to give Grace’s sons for mowing his yard, but the discussion quickly turned violent.

  • Man busted for sending obscene material to minor

    A former Lawrenceburg resident was arrested March 14 on a warrant that claims he sent a photo of his private parts to a minor.

    Joseph Petersmark, who is currently housed in the Three Forks Regional Jail on other charges, is charged with distribution of obscene material to a minor, harassing communications and third-degree terroristic threatening in a case that involved interacting with a 17-year-old Lawrenceburg girl on social media, including Instagram and Facebook.

  • Man charged with ‘swatting’ at EMS

    A man staying at Best Western became combative with EMS workers March 14, allegedly swinging at them while yelling, “I am USA! You no USA!” according to police reports.

    Eric Reynaga, 48, of Ashland City, Tennessee was charged March 14 with second-degree disorderly conduct.

    “He kept saying, ‘I was born here. I am USA, you no USA,” said Emergency Management Director Bart Powell, who was in Reynaga’s hotel room at the time.

  • Woman charged with heroin possession

    A Lawrenceburg woman was charged with first-degree possession of heroin March 19 after police responded to a complaint near the trailer park on Versailles Road.

    Amber Perkins, 21, of 1420 Buntain School Road was charged with possession of .38 grams of heroin after police found it in her purse, according to a report filed by deputy Loren Wells of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

  • Man charged for driving on Suboxone with child in car

    A Lawrenceburg man is facing wanton endangerment charges after police pulled him over while he was allegedly under the influence of Suboxone while having his 14-year-old son in his vehicle, according to police reports.

    David W. Lockard, 37, of 116 Dove Drive was also charged with alcohol intoxication (first and second offense), disregarding a stop sign and failure to signal during a traffic stop that took place March 18 on Bluebird Court, according to a police report filed by arresting office Kyle Burris of the Lawrenceburg Police Department.
