Outdoor fires and burning have been banned due to ongoing drought conditions, Judge-Executive John Wayne Conway’s office announced this afternoon.
No outdoor burning of any kind is allowed, including trash barrels.
Anderson County Fire Chief Mike Barnes said the ban does not include fireworks, for now.
“We don’t want to interfere with people’s Fourth of July, but if because an issue, we may have to restrict them.”
Barnes said anyone setting off fireworks is asked to use “extreme caution.”
