I read a story about a man named Bill. His wife left him and he became so depressed that his doctor sent him for psychiatric help. Bill told the psychiatrist his difficulties and surmised, “Life isn’t worth living.” The psychiatrist retorted, “Don’t be so rash, Bill; let work be your recovery. I want you to totally plunge yourself in your work. Now, what do you do for a living?” Bill looked even more distraught as he replied, “I clean out septic tanks.” So much for the power of positive thinking!

Pamela Gibbs and Jim Gibbs of Anderson County announce the engagement of their daughter, Valerie Dawn Gibbs of Anderson County, to Eric Clay Bottoms of Mercer County, son of the late Peggy Bottoms and the late Bill Bottoms of Mercer County.
The bride is a 2008 Anderson County High School graduate and a 2012 University of Louisville graduate. She is currently attending the University of Kentucky’s doctor of physical therapy program.
The groom is a 2006 Harrodsburg High School graduate and a 2009 Bluegrass Community and Technical College graduate.

“Heroes for the American Red Cross” is a grassroots campaign where local business people, school groups, church groups, civic clubs and individuals pledge to raise $1,000 for their local Red Cross chapter starting April 19-May 3.
This year, the Red Cross hopes to raise $45,000 during the campaign to support services including disaster relief, disaster preparedness training, assistance for fire victims, emergency military communications, blood collections and first aid and CPR training.

“You can choose to observe or can meat that you bring from home,” event organizers said.
