  • Rotary Club announces scholarship winners

    Two Anderson County students have been selected to receive scholarships provided by the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club, the club announced.
    Mackenzie Morris received a scholarship to attend Mid-American College in Jeffersonville, Ind., and Katherine T. Waford, who just recently completed her freshman year at Eastern Kentucky University with a 4.0 grade point average, will continue her studies there, the club announced.
    The scholarships were funded through the club’s annual pancake breakfast.

    Students graduate
    from Indiana Wesleyan
    Shirley Boatman-Parks and Jennifer Miller, both of Lawrenceburg, were among the 2,000 students who received degrees during graduation ceremonies April 28 at Indiana Wesleyan University’s main campus in Marion, Ind.
    Boatman-Parks received a MBA in human resource management. Jennifer Miller received a MSN in nursing education.

  • Thirty-seven selected for scholarships

    The organizers of the Anderson County Scholarship fund announced that 37 students have been chosen to receive scholarships this year.
    Of that number, four were selected by the United Methodist Scholarship Committtee; the rest by the scholarship’s selection committee, according to a news release.
    Selection committee recipients will receive $3,000 each. The church recipients will receive $1,000 each, organizers said. Students will receive half of their money in August, and the balance in December.

  • Adult Education holds GED graduation ceremony on June 11

    The Anderson County Adult Education GED graduation will be held Monday, June 11 at 7 p.m. in the Anderson County High School Bearcat Theater, according to a news release.
    “This ceremony is to honor those students who have received their GED diplomas during the current school year,” event organizers said.
    Participating graduates are asked to call the office at 839-3754 to confirm reservations for a cap and gown, tassel and pictures. Graduates will meet in the theater stage area at 6 p.m.

    Samual L. Oates, hearing, fraudulent use of credit card (less than $500 within six month period) – jail credit for fines and costs satisfied.
    Rhonda R. Smith, hearing, theft by unlawful taking – revoke 15 days (credit time served).
    Todd E. Beck, arraignment, three counts of theft by deception (less than $500) – continued to May 3.
