    Fintville Community Church
    to host concert
    Fintville Community Church will be hosting a concert on March 3 at 11 a.m.
    The concert will feature guest gospel singer Roger Barkley Jr., who is from the Barkley Family Singers, according to event organizers.
    Fintville Community Church is located off US 62 between Versailles and Lawrenceburg at 832 Shryock Ferry Road.

     Do you remember the theme song to the television show “Cheers?”
    “You wanna go where everybody knows your name.” There is a lot of truth in those lyrics. Simply put, humans were created with a longing for sincere fellowship.
    Fellowship with God is the substance of life, and this fellowship comes through Jesus Christ.

    Stars at Work
    The Stars at Work second meeting was Feb. 21, 2013. In this meeting we elected officers. Josh Cooper is the president, Makayla Stratton is the vice president, Nita Kiem is the secretary and Taylor Dudley is the reporter. The Stars at Work also came up with a name for the club. The nominations for our club name were the Shields stars 4-H club, 4-H Stars, Clover Stars, Clovers and Stars at Work. Elijah Johnson came up with the name Stars at Work, which was voted as our club name.

    On Monday, March 4 The Anderson County Piecemakers Quilt Guild meeting time will change, for this month only, to 6 p.m. at the Anderson County Extension Office. The program will be conducted by Vicki McCarty from Calico Patch Quilt Shop in Morehead.
    Compassionate Friends announce upcoming meetings
    The Compassionate Friends will host meetings for bereavement parents who have lost children of any age.

  • Distinguished Young Women orientation to be held Sunday

    Orientation for the 2014 Anderson County Distinguished Young Women program will be held Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at Sand Spring Baptist Church, located at 1616 Harrodsburg Road in Lawrenceburg.
    The Distinguished Young Women program, formerly known as Junior Miss, is open to all current high school junior girls who reside in Anderson County.
    Parents are encouraged to attend with their daughters.

    Cody Stratton, arraignment, no operator/moped license, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot) – continued to Feb. 21.
    Michael S. Thornton, arraignment, theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting) – continued to Feb. 21.
    Ryan M. Eckhart, arraignment, operating on suspended/revoked operator’s license, failure to surrender revoked operator’s license – continued to Mar. 7.

  • Student wins WKU scholarship at math contest

    Levi Wilson of Anderson County Middle School won a full-tuition scholarship to Western Kentucky University after taking first place individually at the KSPE Capital Chapter MathCounts competition.
    Middle School Mathletes from Anderson County Middle School took second place at the competition.
    Western Kentucky University awarded scholarships to the top three scoring individuals, with Wilson winning a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to WKU.
