    Judge Linda Armstrong heard the following cases during Anderson District Court proceedings on Sept. 5.
    Jessie M. McMurray, motion to revoke probation, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, operating on suspended/revoked operator’s license, third-degree terroristic threatening – probable cause found for violation, bench warrant.
    Kenneth Wayne Mitchell, show cause, theft by unlawful taking – pretrial conference Jan. 9, jury trial Feb. 6.

  • Man jailed for hitting invasion suspect in court Thursday

    A Lawrenceburg father who allegedly assaulted one of the men suspected of robbing his Citation Lane home in March is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Thursday morning in Anderson County District Court for a disposition hearing.
    Joshua Hillyer, 40, of 4128 Citation Lane, was arrested and charged in March 2013 for allegedly striking one of the men involved in the home invasion of Hillyer’s residence.

  • Red Cross offers tips for a safe, yet spooky Halloween

    With Halloween right around the corner, the American Red Cross would like everyone to stay safe when they don their costumes and go out to trick or treat, according to a news release from the Red Cross.
    Halloween’s greatest hazards aren’t vampires and villains, but falls, costume mishaps and traffic accidents, so the Red Cross is offering the following tips to help make this Halloween safe:
    • Look for flame-resistant costumes.

    Lawrenceburg student inducted into education honor society
    Kelsie Doss of Lawrenceburg, an elementary education major at Campbellsville University, was recently inducted as a member of the Alpha Epsilon Omicron chapter of Campbellsville University School of Education’s Kappa Delta Pi.  
    Initiates became members of the Alpha Epsilon Omicron chapter Oct. 13, according to a news release.

    Pierian Woman’s Club announces upcoming events
    At its Oct. 17 meeting, the Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club made plans to host the Nov. 15 Kentucky Humanities Society Chautauqua presentation. Patricia Clark will portray Mary Todd Lincoln in “A House Divided” at 7 p.m. at the Anderson County Library. The club will serve light refreshments prior to the program and the public is cordially invited to attend this free event.

  • Officials urge vaccination following state’s first reported cases of influenza

    News that the state’s first positive cases for influenza this week has prompted local health officials to remind residents that flu shots are now available at the Anderson County Health Department, located on Glensboro Road in Lawrenceburg.
    “We still have vaccine,” said Tim Wright, the agency’s director of public health. “We are giving shots every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.”
