  • FOOTBALL: Bearcats slide past Woodford

    Anderson County erupted for two third quarter touchdowns on the way to a 21-7 district win over visiting Woodford County Friday night.

    Despite dominating the stat sheet, the Bearcats were only up 7-0 just past the midway point of the third quarter when Ross Cox ran two yards for a touchdown. Granville Hayes set the score up when he motored for 61 yards the play before.

  • GOLF: Harrod qualifies for state

    SPRINGFIELD – Anderson County golfer Tyler Harrod won a one-hole playoff Wednesday to earn a berth in the boys' state high school golf tournament.

    Harrod, a junior, shaved five strokes off his final five holes to finish with a 4-over 76 in the regional golf tournament held at Lincoln Homestead Golf Course. Harrod forced a tie, then on the extra hole, placed his third shot about 18 inches from the pin. Harrod then tapped the ball in for par to win the playoff.

    children’s minister
    Alton Baptist Church has recently called Ginger Barton to serve as the church’s minster to children.
    Barton is a graduate of Campbellsville University with a degree in Christian educational ministries and office management.

    The New Dawn Singers will perform at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 at Lawrenceburg Trinity Church of God.

    Anderson Public Library offers free yoga class  
    The library will be offering a night of free yoga Sept. 26 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. All levels welcome. Mats are provided. Space is limited to 10 patrons per class.   • Phillips celebrates 90th birthday
  • Class of 1987 to hold reunion on Oct. 20

    The Anderson County High School Class of 1987 will hold its 25th high school reunion on Oct. 20 from 6-11 p.m. at the Eagle Lake Convention Center in Lawrenceburg.
    The reunion will include a dinner, served with music and “a walk down memory lane,” according to a release from event organizers.
    The dinner is $30 per person or $55 per couple. Money can be mailed to: Eagle Lake Convention Center, 1006 Eagle Lake Drive, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342, c/o Jenna Smith.
    Checks should be made payable to Anderson County High School Class of 1987.

  • Historical society to meet Sept. 27

    The Anderson County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Anderson Public Library.
    This month’s speaker, Robert W. Myles, will discuss the Dogwalk battle and the efforts of the city of Lawrenceburg in staging its re-enactment. The meeting is free and open to the public.
