    Karlas Owens received the silver eagles representing the rank of colonel in a Nov. 7 ceremony at the National Guard Association of Kentucky building in Frankfort, according to a news release.

    Three Anderson County High School Spanish students were honored guests at the annual convention of Kentucky’s World Language Teachers in Lexington in September.

    Saffell to host Veterans Day celebration
    Saffell Street Elementary School will host a Veterans Day celebration on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 9 a.m.
    The school is collaborating with the Anderson County High School band, which will perform during the event.
    Three teachers at the school are veterans and will speak during the celebration.
    Saffell’s all-district honors choir members will also perform.
    Veterans, their families and other community members are invited to attend.

    Judge Donna Dutton heard the following cases during District Court proceedings Oct. 14.
    Robert Brown, arraignment, fourth-degree assault domestic violence (no visible injury) – pleaded not guilty, pretrial conference Oct. 28.
    Derek Z. Carter, arraignment, operating motor vehicle under the influence – amended to driving under the influence, first, pleaded not guilty, bond decision; first-degree disorderly conduct, menacing, resisting arrest – pleaded not guilty, bond decision.

    Alisha Lane Walker and Jeremy Brandon Cook of Lawrenceburg were married June 19 at First Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg.

  • Corley anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Corley were surprised with a 60th wedding anniversary party on Oct. 22 at the Anderson County Community Park.

    Dinner was served, and The Buckskins Band provided music.
    The couple was married Nov. 6, 1950 in Jeffersonville, Ind. They celebrated their anniversary in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
    They have two children, Karen Smith and Mike Corley and his wife, Kay.
    The have four grandchildren, Jeremy Smith and his wife, Robin; Bruce Carrier and his wife, Kara; Michael Corley and his wife, Keturah; and Stephen Hawkins.

    Morgan Inabnitt and Taylor Caldwell of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Alexis “Lexi” Ann-Faith Caldwell, on Oct. 8 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort.
