  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Anderson survives early foul trouble, rolls past LaRue in Top 10 showdown

    HODGENVILLE – On a day when the big-time talent was on display, it was some unheralded reserves who shone the brightest.

    Sophomore Kaci Currens came off the bench to score 16 points while junior Corrin Robinson added 11 to boost top-ranked Anderson County to a 69-51 win over host LaRue County in the Corky Cox Classic at LaRue County High School on Saturday.

  • Anderson sports schedules revised due to weather

    UPDATED, 6 P.M. FRIDAY: The Shelby County Holiday Classic swim meet has been canceled, according to Anderson County coach Karla Williams.

    The weather has already played havoc with Anderson County's weekend sports schedule.

    One of the biggest early-season girls' basketball games, Anderson County at LaRue County, originally scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, has been moved up to noon on Saturday.

  • Beta Sigma Phi to host 17th Christmas tour Dec. 15

    The Lawrenceburg Gamma Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will host its 17th Christmas Community Tour on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 2-4:30 p.m.
    An exception to these times is the tours at the Four Roses Distillery, which start on the hour at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., and last approximately one hour.

  • American Legion, Auxiliary Unit 34 hold district meeting

    The American Legion and Auxiliary 8th District meeting was held Nov. 17 at Patriot Hall in Lawrenceburg.
    The meeting started out as a joint meeting with Auxiliary and Legion members. The district commander John Jacobs welcomed everyone and called on the chaplain for prayer.

    The Compassionate Friends will host meetings for bereavement parents who have lost children of any age.
    Meetings are held on the first Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the third Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the hospice building, 643 Teton Trail in Frankfort.

    Diabetes program
    to meet Dec. 10
    The Anderson County Health Department will host its diabetes support program next Tuesday, Dec. 10, according to a news release.
    It will meet in the health department’s community room from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
    The department kicked off the revitalization of its diabetes support group on Nov. 12.

    Alton Christian’s live nativity
    scene to be held Dec. 6-8
    Alton Christian Church will host an “O’ Little Town of Bethlehem” live nativity scene Dec. 6-8 from 6-9 p.m. each night.
    “Come and join us through the birth of Christ our Lord,” event organizers said in a release.
    The nativity is free and there will be refreshments.
    Alton Christian Church is located at 1686 Frankfort Road, Lawrenceburg.
