  • Engagement: Richardson-Young

    Rex and Belinda Richardson of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie Lynn Richardson of Lawrenceburg, to Logan Berry Young of Lawrenceburg, son of Berry and Barbie Young of Lawrenceburg.
    The bride-to-be is a 2006 Anderson County High School graduate, a 2011 Eastern Kentucky University graduate, and is employed as an online manager at the campus bookstore in Richmond.
    The groom is a 2006 Anderson County High School graduate, a 2010 Eastern Kentucky University graduate, and is currently employed as a teacher at Westridge Elementary in Frankfort.

  • Thompson attends training

    Lawrenceburg resident Jane Thompson, member of Alpha Gamma State chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, returned from leadership development training for new state organization presidents of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
    This organization is a professional honor society for women educators with approximately 95,300 members.
    The leadership development training was held July 11-13 in Louisville preceding the 2011 Regional Delta Kappa Gamma International Conference.

  • Anniversary: Gritton

    Juanita (Thompson) Gritton and O. H. “June” Gritton Jr. of Lawrenceburg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at the Claylick United Methodist Church, 235 Claylick Church Road, on Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. in Salvisa.
    Parents of the couple are the late Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Thompson of Lawrenceburg and the late Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Gritton of Lawrenceburg.
    Juanita is a homemaker and June is retired from IBM.

  • Way We Were: Sisters up to their old tricks, again

    Two Anderson County sisters were up to their old tricks again in walking off with canning honors at the Kentucky State Fair.
    Mrs. Elvin Burgin, the state sweepstakes winner last year and not eligible to win the highest honor again this year, placed second with her 65 entries.
    Her sister, Mrs. E.B Sparrow, the Sweepstakes winner of the Anderson County Agricultural Fair this year, walked off with third place in the state with her 54 entries at the Fair.

    Judge Linda Armstrong heard the following cases during Anderson District Court proceedings Aug. 25.
    Magaleno Loreto, continued first appearance, operating a motor vehicle under the influence – pleaded guilty, 30 day operator license suspension, $728, installment/deferred payment March 22.
    Dana Mackey, show cause, false statement/misrepresentation to receive benefits – failed to appear, bench warrant.
    Rigoberto Martinez, continued first appearance, no operator/moped license – pleaded guilty, $393, installment/deferred payment Dec. 1.

  • Poker Run raises more than $9,000 for Healing Field

    The fourth annual Poker Run for the Healing Field was held Sept. 3.
    Signaling the start of the Poker Run was Department of Kentucky Auxiliary President Lois Hall. There were 117 people to register and 77 motorcycles. More than $9,000 was raised with the raffle, silent auction, 50/50 jackpot, sale of T-shirts and registration.
