    Freedom Baptist church hosts
    Fourth of July celebration
    Freedom Baptist Church, located at 1010 Powell Taylor Road, will be hosting a Fourth of July celebration on June 30, starting at 5 p.m.
    Event organizers invite the community to “come join us for food, a brief message from Brian Proctor and fireworks at dusk.”

    Mount Eden Christian to host concert
    Mount Eden Christian Church will feature the “Journeymen” during its 11 a.m. service on Sunday, July 1.

  • Solomon gives answers to meaning of life

    What is the meaning of life?
    It’s hard to fathom sometimes why we are here and what our purpose in life is.
    That’s why I find the Bible so intriguing. It has all of the answers.
    Let me explain. God blessed King Solomon in 1 Kings Chapter 3 with, “a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you (Solomon), nor will there ever be.”
    God also blessed Solomon with “both riches and honor so that in your lifetime (Solomon) you will have no equal among kings.”

  • Anniversary: Sullivan

    Donald and Evelyn Sullivan of Avenstoke will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 28, the couple announced.
    The couple was married on June 28, 1952, at the Pigeon Fork Baptist Church parsonage in Waddy by the late Rev. Charles Tipton.
    The Sullivans have two children, Gary Sullivan and his wife, Deborah, of Shelby County, and Teresa Burns and her husband, David, of Anderson County.

  • Wedding: Chaney-Foster

    Carmen Kathleen Chaney of Lawrenceburg and Alvin Wayne Foster of Richmond were married on June 15, 2012, in Gatlinburg, Tenn., at Gatlinburg Chapel Ministries.
    Parents of the bride are the late Joyce Ann Franklin and the late Omer Madison Chaney. Parents of the groom are Alvin and Virginia Foster of Richmond.
    The bride is a 1983 graduate of Lafayette Senior High School in Lexington.
    The groom is a 1981 graduate of Madison Central High School.
    The bride and groom are both employed as glass workers at NSG Pilkington in Versailles.

    Scottie and Pam Franklin announce the engagement of their daughter, Krista Nicole Shartzer of Lawrenceburg to Justin Dailey Hill of Lawrenceburg, son of Everett and Dorothy Hill.
    The bride is a 2011 Anderson County High School graduate and currently attends Bluegrass Community and Technical College.
    She is currently employed as a server at Huddle House.
    The groom is a 2010 Anderson County High School graduate.
    He is currently employed as a line operator at Katayama American in Shelbyville.

    Student graduates
    with nursing degree
    Jill Jackson of Lawrenceburg, daughter of Jimmy Joe and Tamara Jackson, graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing from St. Catherine College.
    She is currently employed with the University of Kentucky medical center.

    Walker passes pharmacy board
    Audra Walker, a graduate of Anderson County High School and the Harrodsburg Area Technology Center Nursing 1 program, recently passed the pharmacy technician certification board exam.

  • Anderson County residents participate in national ‘Music for All’ organization

    Anderson natives Valerie Lines and Chris Taylor will participate in Music for All, one of the nation’s most influential music education organizations.
    According to a press release, Lines is an instrumental music high school student, and Taylor is a high school director and both will perform with others at the symposium June 25-30 at Ball State University.
