    I know it feels great outside the last several weeks but spring is here at least two to three weeks too early thanks to not much winter and a whole lot of rain. Grass and weeds are shooting up around my place nearly as fast as the gas prices.

  • OUTDOORS: Additional fishing access opens just in time for white bass run at Taylorsville Lake headwaters

    Anglers have new access to the Taylorsville Lake headwaters in central Kentucky just in time for the popular white bass spawning run, according to a release from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife resources.

    "We're going to be putting a lot of smiles on the faces of people," said Bill Mitchell, foreman of the Taylorsville Lake Wildlife Management Area.

    Mitch and Lisa Hudson of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Megan Elisabeth Hudson, born Jan. 19, 2012 at The Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East in Lexington.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 20 1/4 inches long.
    She was welcomed home by her big sister, Emily, 6.
    Her maternal grandparents are Harold and Jane Todd of Lawrenceburg.
    Her paternal grandparents are Darrel and Bitha Hudson of Lawrenceburg.

  • Pierian Woman’s Club gears up for Hats Off! luncheon and style show

    The Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club will host its annual luncheon and style show, Hats Off! on April 21 at the Family Living Center of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
    Martha Caywood of the Derby Shoppe and Raggs in Danville will again present the style show, with club members and friends modeling.
    The luncheon menu includes Chicken Salad with Pecans and Grapes, Strawberry Pretzel Molded Salad and Orange Pound Cake.
    The event will also feature a display of high school art competition entries, with voting for a “Peoples’ Choice” award.
