  • Little League Opening Day ceremonies rescheduled

    Opening Day Ceremonies for Anderson County Little League, scheduled for Saturday, have been canceled. The ceremony has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 27.

    Players should contact their team coaches concerning game schedules.

  • Spring football game rescheduled

    The Anderson County High School football team spring game, originally set for Friday night, has been rescheduled for Monday, April 22 at 7 p.m. due to Friday's inclement weather. Bearcat coach Mark Peach has also announced that following the game, there will be a community forum on behalf of the Anderson County Bearcat Youth Football League.

  • Man subdued by police at Alton Station Road residence
  • BREAKING: Man threatening family, has barricaded himself inside Alton Station Road residence

    A man has allegedly barricaded himself inside an Alton Station residence as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday and is threatening physical violence against his family, a source told The Anderson News.

    Police received a call about a domestic dispute Thursday afternoon and officers have been stationed outside an Alton Station Road residence for about an hour as of 3:30 p.m., the source said.

    As of 4 p.m., Alton Station Road was reopened to traffic. Earlier, police had closed the road for a period.

    Kentucky State Police is investigating the incident.

    Slightly pink, Elder’s new medical tattoo is still healing.

    Church kicks off
    ‘Souls 4 Soles’ shoe drive
    Central Baptist Church will be accepting shoes for its 2013 “Souls 4 Soles” shoe collection through the end of May, according to a press release.
    Last year the community donated more than 2,600 pairs of new and used shoes for the drive.
    Shoes may be dropped off at any time at Central Baptist Church, located across from the cell phone tower on 1958 127 Bypass North, or call 502-319-0903 or 502-829-5013 to have someone pick up a shoe donation.

  • Don’t find romantic love in all the wrong places

    In 2008 TIME magazine ran an article titled “Are Romantic Movies Bad For You?”
    The article covered what researchers at Heriot Watt University’s Family and Personal Relationships Laboratory in Edinburgh, Scotland, found when they completed a study of 40 Hollywood romantic comedies released between 1995-2005. They found that problems typically reported by couples in relationship counseling at their center reflect misconceptions about love and romance depicted in Hollywood films.  

  • Warford to celebrate 90th birthday Saturday

    A reception will be held in honor of Ms. Billie Warford in celebration of her 90th birthday on Saturday, April 20 from 2-4 p.m. at Freedom Baptist Church.
    All friends and relatives are invited. Warford requests no gifts.
    Freedom Baptist Church is located at the corner of Powell Taylor Road and Highway 44 in Lawrenceburg.  
     

  • Engagement: Hardin-Lynch and Hancock

    Tony Lynch and Lori Hardin-Lynch of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Christine Hardin-Lynch of Lawrenceburg to Robert Dylan Hancock, son of Dewayne Hancock of Georgetown and Cora Mae Hancock of Frankfort.
    The bride is a 2011 Anderson County High School graduate and currently attends Western Kentucky University. She is currently employed by Bowling Green City Schools and Sun Tan City.
