  • Birth: Warren

    Ginger and Brandon Warren of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their son, Max David Warren, born Dec. 27, 2011, at Central Baptist Hospital.
    He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 and 1/2 inches long.
    Big brother Luke, 3, welcomed Max home.
    Maternal grandparents are Jerry and Regina Shely of Lawrenceburg.
    Paternal grandparents are Larry and Brenda Warren of Campbellsville. Paternal great-grandparent is Nancy Humphress Dixon of Knifley, Ky.
     

  • Student wins Bravehearts pageant

    Kelia Renee Sullivan won the Lexington Riot Sweethearts for Bravehearts Little Miss Pageant on Feb. 19 in Lexington.
    The pageant was a fundraiser for two groups that benefit young children: The Lexington Riot Fast Pitch Softball 10U team and the Kosair Children’s Hospital Camp Braveheart.
    Camp Braveheart is a weeklong summer camp at Trooper Island for children who have undergone heart surgery, heart related procedures, or suffer from heart related illnesses.

  • Wedding: Richardson and Young

    Katie L. Richardson and Logan B. Young, both of Lawrenceburg, were married on Oct. 1, 2011, at Ninevah Christian Church in Lawrenceburg, with the Rev. Chad Cooper officiating.
    The bride is the daughter of Rex and Belinda Richardson of Lawrenceburg. Her grandparents are Billy Gene and Joyce Richardson.
    The groom is the son of Berry and Barbie Young of Lawrenceburg. His grandparents are Larry and Georgia Young, and Raymond and Rachel Peak.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father Rex Richardson.

    Christian Academy student wins
    Ohio Valley Region Spelling Bee
    Brooke Carpenter, an eighth grader at the Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg, surpassed 15 other contestants in the championship round of the ACSI Ohio Valley Region Spelling Bee on Feb. 25.  
    The spelling bee was held at the Whitfield Christian Academy in Louisville.
    Carpenter, the daughter of Dale and Melissa Carpenter, correctly spelled ‘mellifluous’ and ‘syllabication’ in the final round to secure the championship trophy.

  • Saffell student places in conservation poster contest

    Savannah Thompson, a fourth grader at Saffell Street Elementary, placed ninth out of 43,000 entries for her artwork at the state Jim Claypool Art Contest.
    Thompson is a daughter of Chris and Dana Thompson and granddaughter of Bobby and Linda Durr and Allen and Julia Thompson of Lawrenceburg.
    Each year, the fourth graders at Saffell Street Elementary participate in the Jim Claypool Art Contest sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts.
