    New Hope Baptist
    announces coming events
    New Hope Baptist Church has announced the coming events.
    Sunday, June 10 will begin “Summer Time Sunday Nights” at 6 p.m. for kids ages 3 through fifth grade.
    On June 13, congregation members will be leaving New Hope at 9:45 a.m. to deliver bananas and fellowship with Heritage Hall residents in Lawrenceburg.
    All are welcome to come join this ministry.  

  • Auxiliary presents checks for Miracle Network

    The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 34 presented a check to Brian Coligan and Kyle Burleson of Rite Aid for Children’s Miracle Network.
    A check was also presented to Hoss Cartwright for the All Veterans Reunion held at Lawrenceburg on Post 34 grounds.

  • Follow Christ’s order to get out and go to all ends of the earth

    One of my fellow church members left his family last week and went to work on an orphanage in Haiti.
    Last Sunday at church, a very close friend and preacher visited and spoke about his decision for he and his wife to sell all of their possessions and move closer to the front of the mission field in Mexico, where they will serve in their later years (They are in their late 50s.)
    Folks, this is not what special Christians do. This is what our Lord Jesus commands you and I to do.

    This year’s summer reading program at Anderson Public Library is “Dream Big Read,” beginning June 25.

    Preschool programs
    When: Mondays, starting June 25-July 23
    Time: 11 a.m. to noon

  • Friends of the Library meet

    The Friends of the Library is scheduled to meet June 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the library. New members are welcome.
    Friends of the Anderson Public Library meets the second Wednesday of the month at the library at 5:30 p.m.

  • Engagement: Wilder and Crosthwaite

    Wayne and Lisa Wilder of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicole Clarice Wilder, to Wesley Allen Crosthwaite, son of Dean Minnix and Jimmy Crosthwaite.
    The bride is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and is employed at the Kentucky Department of Revenue.
    The groom attended the University of Kentucky and is employed at Kentucky Retirement Systems.
    The wedding will take place June 16, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at Sand Spring Baptist Church.
    All friends and relatives are invited.

    Bobby and Betty Montgomery of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Leann Montgomery, to Randy Joel Adams of Lexington, son of Ronald and Diane Adams of Loretto, Ky.
    Grandparents of the bride are Robert L. Montgomery and Virginia Perkins of Lawrenceburg and Deverl and the late Clyde Burns of Willisburg, Ky.
    Grandparents of the groom are Shirley and the late Paul Adams of Loretto, and Joyce and the late Frank Gibson of Bardstown.

  • Way We Were: Chief Kirby rescues child from room

    50 YEARS AGO
    May 24, 1962

    Chief of Police William Kirby was called to the home of Mrs. E.B. Cornett Jr. on Bond Street to assist in getting the 2-and-a-1/2-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Drury from the second story of the home where he had locked himself in.
    The chief said the child had turned an inside lock to a room adjoining the bathroom and was unable to get out.

    Judge Donna Dutton heard the following cases during Anderson District Court proceedings on April 26, 2012.
    Kara J. Anglin, diversion completion, complicity theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting) – show cause May 24.
    Rhonda C. Blevins, arraignment, first-degree possession of controlled substance – pleaded not guilty, waived to grand jury.
    Chloe R. Bostow, disposition, theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting) – pleaded guilty, diverted one year, $153, installment/deferred payment and diversion review Apr. 25.
