Eyebrows then hopes were raised last week when the owners of Wild Turkey confirmed that the distillery had been sold to Italian company Campari for $575 million in cash.

Eyebrows because the sale was considered to be at least as much if not more than former owner Pernod Ricard of France was asking for the landmark distillery.

Hopes as speculation spread that the new owners might eventually return bottling of the product to Lawrenceburg, providing good-paying jobs that were lost years ago.

Shelby Phillips says she needs an apology, and she spoke at Monday night’s city council meeting in hopes of getting one.

Phillips, who lives at 119 Ballard St., told the council that she had a “bad and embarrassing incident with a police officer” that ended with the officer yelling at her so loudly her neighbors could hear it two doors down.

Courtney Turpin's home run with a runner on highlighted a 4-run third inning that powered 14th-ranked Anderson County past 16th-ranked Louisville Butler Tuesday night at the Anderson field.

Anderson led 5-0 after three innings but then held on when Butler's bats awakened in the final two innings. Anderson aided the Bears with some poor defense, but still held on for its seventh straight win.

Article ‘defamed’ dog owner

To the editor:

In response to the article, “Harrodsburg Road boy, 11, mauled by pit bull mix,” in the paper on April 8.

I would like to express disagreement with the validity of the information of the report. I want to express that this article was defamation of character on my father’s behalf. Defamation of an individual is when a false statement is made causing the individual to suffer harm and these damages are usually harmful to the individual’s reputation.
