    Sand Spring hosts special music
    The LeFevre Quartet and The Nelons will be in concert at Sand Spring Baptist Church, 1616 Harrodsburg Road, Lawrenceburg, on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Love offering will be given. Both musical guests have been on stage at the National Quartet Convention.
    The male Journeymen Quartet from Huntington, W.Va., will be in concert at Sand Spring Baptist Church, 1616 Harrodsburg Road, Lawrenceburg, on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. Love offering will be given.

  • Engagement: Ferry-Newton

    Robert and Donna Ferry of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Allana Ferry of Lawrenceburg, to Matthew Allen Newton, son of Mark and Stacey Newton of Lawrenceburg.
    The bride is a 2006 Anderson County High School graduate and received a bachelor of arts in elementary education from Kentucky State University in 2012. She is currently employed by the Anderson County Board of Education as a substitute teacher.

  • Historical society to meet

    The Anderson County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Anderson Public Library.
    This month’s presentation is “Bringing to Life the T. B. Ripy House” and will be given by Monica Stoch of the University of Kentucky.
    Those interested in the history of Anderson County are encouraged to attend this free lecture, according to event organizers.

    Officer John Denton reported an accident at the corner of Court and Waterfill Monday about 3:30 p.m.
    A truck driven by Richard Mathew Derringer of Springfield and owned by the Lawrenceburg Ready-Mix Co. was parked while Derringer went into the Model Market. When he came out the truck had rolled into a fireplug, knocking it over. No damage was reported to the plug, but about $20 damage to the truck.

    Compassionate Friends announce upcoming meetings
    The Compassionate Friends will host meetings for bereavement parents who have lost children of any age.
    Meetings are held on the first Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the third Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the hospice building, 643 Teton Trail in Frankfort.

    Friends of Anderson Public Library, a non-profit organization, will hold its grand opening book sale Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its new building, located on the back lawn of the Anderson Public Library at 114 N. Main St.
