On a horrible morning in November, a woman in Waddy walked into a room and found a grown man with his hands down the pants of her 6-year-old daughter. She reacted with the sort of rush of rage that would embrace most parents.

“I wanted to kill him,” she said.

She quickly removed the child from the room and then reached for a weapon.

“I grabbed the first gun I could find,” she said.

Anderson County overcame a 10-point deficit in the final three minutes to defeat visiting North Oldham 69-67 Tuesday night.

The teams were ranked at the top of the Eighth Region entering the contest.

North Oldham led 61-51 with three minutes remaining and was still in front 66-60 when Mustang star Tyler St. Julien went over Jacob Russell’s back for his fifth foul.

Russell sank both ends of the double-bonus, then on  the ensuing possession, came up with a steal and  fed C.J. Penny for a layup.

Workers at General Cable overwhelmingly voted against joining a labor union last Thursday and Friday, squashing the effort that has been under way for the better part of the past decade.

By nearly a 4-to-1 margin, workers rejected joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The final vote was 203 no and 57 yes. Fourteen votes were challenged, according to a message on the factory’s telephone system.
