Rivalry games often have unexpected results.
Anderson County worked overtime, and then some, to put away district rival Shelby County in a shootout last Friday at the Shelby County Athletic Complex.
The Lady Bearcats outscored Shelby, 4-2, in the penalty kick segment of the contest to go 3-0 in district play. Anderson, after a loss at Bardstown on Saturday, stood at 7-10-2 heading into the final week of the regular season.
Shelby, which fell to 0-3 in the district, is 10-7-1 overall.
