    Sand Spring hosts
    women’s chorale March 4
    Sand Spring Baptist Church will host a women’s chorale of the Kentucky Baptist Chorales on March 4 at 7 p.m.
    The Kentucky Baptist Chorales are comprised of music ministers, pastors and church members from congregations across the commonwealth. The groups perform around the state a few times each year. They also undertake mission projects in Kentucky, elsewhere in North America and overseas.
    Sand Spring Baptist church is located at 1616 Harrodsburg Road.

    I am often perplexed by those who do not believe the Bible is real or believe in Jesus.
    Hundreds of original manuscripts of the Bible exist today. Hundreds of eyewitnesses saw Jesus crucified and rise. These are the documented facts.
    The Bible is not some elaborate fable or book of thoughts. It is no less than the inspired word of God.  There have been many manipulations of what the Bible says by various religions, but its words are the same today as they were 2,000 years ago.

  • Legion and Auxilary attend winter conference

    The American Legion and Auxiliary winter conference was held in Louisville on Jan.  27-28.
    Department Auxiliary President Lois Hall conducted the Auxiliary meeting.
    Unit 34 members attending were Unit President Betty Butler, Department Membership Chairman Pam Rice, Department Community Service Chairman Chrisie Halvorson and Nettie Halvorson.
    Junior members were Department President and Historian Janna Halvorson, Chaplain Anna Boyles and Secretary Hannah Drury.

    Upcoming Grand Theatre school matinees
    Feb. 10: Dance Kaleidoscope presents “The Dance Show,” in which dancers explain and perform the elements of dance to a wide array of music. The performance is designed for all grades; it is a one-hour show that starts at 10 a.m. At 3 p.m., the troupe will hold a free master class dance workshop for children ages 9-18. Participation is limited to 30 students and reservations must be made through the Grand Theatre box office at 352-7469.

    C.M. Shewmaker will celebrate his 90th birthday with a celebration on Feb. 19 from 2-4 p.m. at Sand Spring Baptist Church.
    He requests no gifts.

    Rita and Rusty Cummins of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Kandis Marlene Jamison to Mark Douglas Proctor, son of Doug and Linda Proctor of Mt. Vernon.
    The bride is a graduate of Berea College and is employed at Hitachi in Harrodsburg.
    The wedding will take place on Feb. 25, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Harrodsburg.
    All friends and family are invited.
