  • Skeptical about spraying branches

    To the editor:
    The article in last week’s paper about spraying branches along the roadways seems bizarre.
    I think the Anderson County Fiscal Court needs to get the advice of a certified arborist and references.
    I can’t imagine a chemical that kills branches, but doesn’t effect the tree.
    Cutting the limbs back to the tree would last for more than the three years that they are guaranteeing.
    What about the overspray onto private property?

  • Put marijuana to work in Kentucky

    To the editor:
    There are two bills coming up in January for our representatives to vote on and you need to let them know where you stand.   
    The first, is sponsored by state Sen. Clark, is to legalize medical marijuana. This herb can help cancer and glaucoma patients and so many more that, with research, the possibilities are unknown.

  • Christ belongs in public square, everywhere else

    To the editor:
    Editor’s note: The following is in response to a letter in last week’s paper by Maxye Henry titled “Keep Christ out of the public square.”
    Ms. Henry, did you ever think that just maybe this is the reason that our country is in the shape it is in?
    We have taken God out of everything, including the schools, courthouses and even the Oval Office.

  • King is example of Dems’ war on women

    To the editor:
    Any one who state Rep. Kim King comes in contact with knows she is a real jewel; a fine Christian, freedom-loving American.
    Kim in all things puts "we the people" first.
    Kim is known, not just here but across this nation, as a great freedom fighter, and today more then ever she is greatly needed.
    Democrats claim there is a war on women. They should know because here in Anderson County it’s being waged against Kim King.

  • King fends off attacks from good old boys

    To the editor:
    Politics is certainly a topic that will spurn the interest of some yet a turnoff for others.   
    The term “good old boys” – its meaning to me indicates status quo, it is what it is, nothing will change and you have to be in or if you oppose, you’re labeled many terms.
    We’re currently witnessing in today’s political spectrum locally as well as nationally what it means to recline in cruise control as a good old boy while Kentuckians and other Americans suffer from this style of governing.

  • King better choice than ‘know-it-all’ zeros”

    To the editor:
    State Rep. Kim King was an exceptional choice one year, eight months ago when she was elected. I know she will be even more exceptional this November when she runs for re-election.
    I personally think she has a done a great job during her first term. If given the chance she will do an even better job during her next term.
    On a personal note, I think the attacks and slenderizing against Mrs. King by some of our elected officials as well as some of our want-to-be’s was totally inappropriate and tremendously out of order.

  • Hoping to serve God eternally

    To the editor:
    There is certainly a struggle among those of us promoting God’s ideals and beliefs while the opposing side vigorously fights and vows to keep his name out of view.
    It’s a great feeling to awaken each day to his splendor and if one day I am to be taken, I then hope that I can serve him eternally.
    May God Bless all for those who have been found and for those whom may be lost.

  • Don’t be silenced by political correctness

    To the editor:
    Intimidation can be a powerful weapon. Tyrants and terrorists have long-employed intimidation into their arsenal to not only keep subjects and opponents in line, but to silence even the smallest hint of resistance.
    Our founding fathers gifted us with a remarkable defense against intimidation when they recognized that humans have certain unalienable rights, granted by God - and then refortified those freedoms with Constitutional protection via the Bill of Rights as they specifically listed those rights.

  • Sports editor’s efforts appreciated

    To the editor:
    Just a quick note of appreciation for the dedication and support that John Herndon has provided to the Anderson County High School volleyball program this season.
    His coverage of our team along with the other sporting events in our community is simply outstanding.
    I have received many favorable comments about the volleyball coverage in The Anderson News from our team parents and fans.
    Plus, John has made many efforts to personally attend our home games.
