Birth: Cooper

Josh and Nicole Cooper of Mount Washington announce the birth of their son, Bennett Austin Cooper, born April 10, 2013, at Baptist Hospital East.
He weighed 6 pounds and was 17 1/2 inches long.
Big brother Hudson, 2, welcomed Bennett home.
Maternal grandparents are Perry and Teresa White of Mackville. Maternal great-grandparent is Dorothy Carey.
Paternal grandparents are Larry and Shirley Cooper of Lawrenceburg. Paternal great-grandparents are Don and Kathleen Cooper.

May 23, 1963
Mary Whitney Sparrow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Sparrow, fell from a car her mother was driving at the Broadway and South Main Intersection and sustained a severe abrasion of the face. She was recovering satisfactorily.

Clarence Sparrow sustained a minor injury to his right leg while watching Stewart Sea make a lead fishing sinker.

Sky Lanterns go on sale May 21

The Compassionate Friends will host meetings for bereavement parents who have lost children of any age.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the third Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the hospice building, 643 Teton Trail in Frankfort.

School board OKs $200,000 property tax increase

The Anderson County Board of Education unanimously approved its proposed budget Monday night calling for a 4 percent revenue increase, about $200,000 more in anticipated property tax revenue for the upcoming fiscal year.
School board chairman James Sargent said the budgeted 4 percent revenue increase does not mean the board will ultimately decide to raise tax rates.

BREAKING: ‘Hoarders’ nightmare unfolding on Beth Drive

Police and child protective services removed a 2-year-old child and two adults who have apparently been living in squalor so bad it stunk from the street in front of their home at 104 Beth Drive.

There are reports of dead animals in the home, including what could be a decomposed cat, rats and what appeared to be cat feces.

A second child has also been taken into protective custody and is a student at Saffell Street Elementary School.

Annual ceremony honors fallen Lawrenceburg troopers

Kentucky State Troopers, particularly those who die in the line of duty, are never forgotten.
Two Lawrenceburg troopers were honored last Wednesday in an annual ceremony that included several of their family members, along with representatives from the state police, sheriff’s office and city police.
Troopers Harold J. Toll and Bobby McCoun were honored in separate ceremonies that included prayers, scripture and song in two local cemeteries.

Memorial Day to be observed Sunday

The American Legion Auxiliary invites the community for a Memorial and Healing Field service on Sunday, May 26 at 3 p.m. at the Healing Field in Lawrenceburg.
The ceremony is being hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 34, the American Legion Post 34 and the Department of Kentucky Auxiliary in remembrance of fallen service men and women and for all who have served, according to an Auxiliary press release.

Stephen R. Fowler, disposition, operating on suspended/revoked operator’s license – continued to Apr. 29.
Dennis R. Gaddie, arraignment, failure to produce insurance card – amended to failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, pleaded guilty, $243, installment/deferred payment Sept. 16.
