Anderson County teachers love where they work, according to a statewide survey that asks staff to comment anonymously on their district’s teaching conditions.
The Kentucky Department of Education released survey results of the New Teacher Center’s Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning (TELL) Kentucky survey last Wednesday.
About 90.57 percent of Anderson County teachers — 240 out of 265 educators —completed the spring 2013 survey compared to the state’s 86.86 percent, according to the TELL survey website.

A rumored payroll tax being considered by the Lawrenceburg City Council is a rumor no more.
Although the council isn’t scheduled to vote on the idea of placing the tax on those who work within city limits, at least two councilmen have discussed it, including one with Mayor Edwinna Baker.
City councilman Ken Evans verified that he has discussed a payroll tax with fellow councilman Larry Giles, adding that the discussion originally surfaced during a recent Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Economic Development Authority (EDA) meeting.

Congressman Andy Barr said he has serious concerns about the IRS’s admitted targeting of conservative groups and is demanding to know why it happened.
In town last week to meet and greet residents during lunch at La Isla, Barr said he started trying to get those answers even before he was elected to Congress last fall.
Barr, an attorney, said he wrote letters to the IRS on behalf of Kentucky 9/12 Project, demanding to know why the group was being targeted.

You may or may not have heard the phrase, “no good deed goes unpunished” and wondered why would a good deed be punished? There seems to be so few good deeds advertised and so many horrific tales in the news. Unfortunately, I now have an example.
An 18 year-old boy was taking a walk in his neighborhood down Broadway (somewhere between Highland Avenue and Main Street) on the afternoon of Saturday, June 1 when he suddenly noticed a young blonde boy of approximately 7 years old running out into the street to retrieve his ball.
