To the editor:
I am writing this to the editor because I think just about everyone should read this article.
To the people of Anderson County and surrounding counties, we want to say thank you.
Our son-in-law Johnny Simpson had a massive stroke on Oct. 20, 2012. He was in intensive care stroke unit for 10 weeks at the University of Louisville. For eight of the 10 weeks, we didn’t know if he was going to live.
On Dec. 21, we started seeing some improvement and he was moved to Cardinal Hill on Dec. 29. He was there until the end of February.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 34 recently donated $500 to the Anderson County Lacrosse Association.
The check was presented at the playing field to lacrosse high school coach Jeff Koonce, senior Hunter Phillips, coach Chris Harrod, middle School coach Mike Fink, seventh grader Liam Dulaney, coach Paula Pulliam and coach Don Casciola. Auxiliary members presenting the check were Betty Butler, Nettie Halvorson and Shirley Thornberry.

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27)
First century orphans were typically the children of widows; they were among the downtrodden of society.
Today the term “orphan” has expanded to include those who have lost their parents, not just to death, but to drug and alcohol addiction, abuse and neglect.

Several hundred fans of extreme sports descended on Lawrenceburg Saturday for the annual Beast of the Bluegrass strongman competition and the United States Powerlifting Association meet held simultaneously at Eagle Lake Convention Center.

Anderson County resident Matt Edmondson competed in only his fourth event but placed fourth in the Open Mens' Heavyweight division.

The division winner, Doug Madewell, of Columbus, Ohio, is a professional lightweight who also competes as an ameteur heavyweight.
